Designer Julie Morrison has been hand-crafting Majesty bags since 2001.
She started making bags for herself, due to the lack of cool handmade
bags locally made. Soon friend after friend started requesting their
own Majesty bag and a hobby was born.
Julie had so many orders that in
2004 she decided to register “MAJESTY” as a business and started
spending her nights and weekends hunched over a sewing machine.
After several successful years of selling to local boutiques, craft shows,
farmers markets and online in her Etsy shop, in 2007 she left her full
time day job to focus on Majesty Vinyl Accessories full time.
“It was a great moment for me, to be able to do what I absolutely LOVE to do
every day and make a successful business out of it! I really feel like
I am living a dream come true, I never thought in a million years that
being a full time artist could be successful.”
Julie works with
Naugahyde Vinyl because it is a vegan-friendly product. It is her
favorite material to use because it comes in so many beautiful colors
and you are really only limited by your imagination. Naugahyde is a
high quality upholstery vinyl and wipes clean in a flash.
Julie is known for her pop-art inspired designs, quirky color combinations,
clean lines and stitch techniques. “I love having a picture in my mind,
and being able to stitch it into a piece of artwork you can actually
use on a daily basis!”
Julie wants to thank friends, family, local customers and business’s for offering so much encouragement,
support and word of mouth advertising.
